HEADACHES

Headaches are a very common complaint with 85% of the population experiencing them every year.  Pain can be experienced from the base of the skull, top of the head, forehead and around the eyes.  The most common cause originates from the neck.

In the neck area, nerves may become irritated and compressed due to poor posture, stress, injury and sprains.  Tight neck muscles can refer pain from the base of the skull to the forehead.  Changes in the blood supply to the head and in and around the skull may also cause migraines.

Osteopathy treats headaches by targeting these specific areas described.

An Osteopath will work to:

  • Improve blood circulation to these areas so that the body can heal faster;
  • Reduce muscle tension which is the cause of tension headaches;

  • Improve joint mobility so that pressure can be alleviated from these areas, thereby reducing irritation to provide relief from headaches and prevent future reoccurrences.
